Mayor John J. Fretti honored Dwayne Scott Nobles, Storm Drain Supervisor in the Utilities Department, with the December 2009 Employee of the Month Award at the City Council meeting on Thursday, Dec. 10. For his extensive knowledge and dedication to his position, Nobles received a framed certificate, a check for $200, and his name will appear on a plaque that is displayed inside City Hall.
Nobles supervises stormwater maintenance crews that perform preventative maintenance to the city’s stormwater system and respond to emergencies. He also works closely with the stormwater superintendent to obtain the documentation needed for the city’s annual stormwater permit report.
Nobles proved to be a valuable asset to the city during the floods earlier this year and most recently during an emergency response to a collapsed sewer manhole. His quick responses in these situations were instrumental in repairing the manholes, stabilizing the stream bank, allowing the city to quickly restore services, and minimizing environmental exposure.
The City of Valdosta applauds Nobles for his leadership abilities, years of experience serving the citizens of Valdosta, and for receiving the December 2009 Employee of the Month Award.
