The City of Valdosta and the Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts announced the winners in the 2010 Valdosta People’s Choice Photo Contest at a special reception held at the arts center on July 12.
The contest drew interest from 128 participants who used the contest venue to capture life in Valdosta through photography. Valdosta Mayor John J. Fretti awarded framed certificates and commemorative sesquicentennial coins to the honorable mention winners in the four categories. In addition to the framed certificates and coins, first place winners in the categories and the Best in Show winner also received a $50 gift card.

The photo contest is one of a packed 2010 calendar of events celebrating the City of Valdosta’s 150th year. The Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts, who partnered with the city for the contest, took the opportunity to host a “birthday party” for the city—which in addition to the announcement of the photo contest winners, included a birthday cake and the presentation of a song written especially for the Valdosta community.
