City of Valdosta Mayor John J. Fretti has recently joined the Board of Directors of the International Chamber of Commerce U.S.A. (ICCU).
The ICCU, officially launched on Feb. 28, held its first trade conference on April 17 in Atlanta, Ga. The new organization seeks to support and enhance international business trade and investment, as well as cultural and social exchange between Georgia and other countries of the world.
“The ICCU aims to provide Georgia business people with the contacts and the expertise needed to succeed internationally,” said Solange Warner, ICCU’s founder, CEO and president. “There is a great need for Georgia companies to understand international trade and be able to work together with other organizations.”
ICCU provides international awareness for American and foreign businesses to penetrate global markets and works as a liaison for global commerce, assisting companies to reach out to lucrative international markets.
“I consider it an honor to be invited as a charter board member to this new International Chamber of Commerce and see it as my charge to continue to put Valdosta on the map,” said Mayor Fretti. “I will seek out opportunities for our local businesses and organizations while representing medium metropolitan communities from across the nation.”
Other ICCU members include Barbara Mobley, State Judge for Dekalb County; Tony Valadez, Delta Air Lines Asia, Africa and Latin American Commercial Development; State Senator Curt Thompson; Nathan Middleton, Deputy Clerk Supreme Court; Craig Lesser, McKenna Long and Aldridge Managing Director; Alexander Mejia, CIFAL Executive Director; Eric de Groot, Founder and Director of the Holland American Chamber of Commerce; Lucia Jennings, Founder of the Brazilian American Chamber of Commerce; Tom Rosseland Chairman of the Swedish American Chamber of Commerce and Solange Warner, CEO and president of Ashton International Consulting.
