City of Valdosta Announces First Female Finalist for City Manager Position

The City of Valdosta is proud to announce Jennifer Wheeler as the first female finalist for the position of City Manager, marking a significant milestone in the City’s leadership journey.
Wheeler brings more than eighteen years of experience in government administration, with a proven track record of excellence in program and project management, strategic planning, and financial oversight. Her professional background reflects a strong ability to implement proactive operational improvements, strengthen financial performance, and build collaborative relationships across departments and stakeholder groups.
As part of a thoughtful and strategic transition, Wheeler will be mentored by Interim City Manager Al Crace, who has served in the role since November 7, 2025. Crace will continue to support the City in a mentorship capacity through 2027, ensuring continuity, stability, and a seamless leadership transition.
