Public Information

The Public Information Office works with the elected officials and the city department heads to provide accurate and timely information for the citizens and the news media about local government services, programs and special events. A variety of communication tools, including our Metro Valdosta Channel 17 on Mediacom, are used to distribute the city message to a wonderfully diverse and community. The office is also charged with administering the city website and monitoring the city's overall internal and external communication strategy.

Sharah' Denton

Community Relations & Marketing Manager/PIO

Sharah' Denton is an award-winning visionary dedicated to public relations, marketing, and community leadership. She demonstrates magnetism, poise, public speaking expertise, and strong interpersonal skills, enabling her to communicate effectively with diverse audiences. With over 15 years of writing experience, she has a proven ability to establish credible, positive relationships across varied communities and bring public relations campaigns to life. Her work fosters a strong media presence that reflects an organization’s culture of excellence through strategic planning, messaging, and targeted social media placement.

She has achieved measurable success in staff training and development, crisis communication, and creating highly professional, impactful branding for organizations, educational institutions, nonprofits, and individual clients. Her expertise includes producing professional media kits, marketing packets, website designs, and marketing strategies, as well as organizing events and activities. She is skilled in social media management, public relations, media writing, community collaborations, speech writing and preparation, team building, campaigns, branding, staff image management, and media relations. She also has extensive experience producing magazine and print materials for businesses, schools, nonprofits, and individual clients. Known for her ability to manage multi-disciplinary projects, she thrives in navigating complex challenges.

A first-generation college graduate, Sharah’ holds a B.S. degree from Northern Michigan University and an M.S. degree from Capella University. She was named the 2012 Valdosta Woman of the Year, a 2013 Valdosta-Lowndes Chamber MetroOne 4 Under 40 recipient, and a 2013 Georgia Trend Magazine Outstanding Georgian 40 Under 40 in business, government, politics, nonprofits, science, conservation, and education. She is a 2012 alumna of Leadership Lowndes and a 2017 Young Game Changer through Georgia Forward. 

Caison Kirkland

Media Coordinator

Caison Kirkland serves as the Media Coordinator for the City of Valdosta, bringing a diverse background in journalism, content creation, and strategic communications. A graduate of Valdosta State University with a degree in Mass Communications and Media Studies, Caison’s professional journey includes experience as a reporter for the Valdosta Daily Times and contributions to magazine writing, where he developed a strong foundation in research, news storytelling, and engaging diverse audiences.

With a versatile skill set that spans digital content creation, video editing and producing, public communications, media projects, and media relations, Caison brings a fresh perspective to the City’s Public Information Office. His work is guided by a commitment to crafting innovative messaging strategies and delivering compelling, accurate information that connects the community to the City’s initiatives, services, and events.

Caison’s ability to blend creativity with strategic communication ensures that the City of Valdosta’s stories are told with clarity, professionalism, and impact.

Jessi Roth

Communications Coordinator

Jessi Roth serves as the Communications Coordinator for the City of Valdosta, bringing more than six years of expertise in public affairs, photography, and strategic communication.

Before joining the City, Jessi served in the United States Air Force as a Public Affairs professional, working in high-tempo environments to document and share high-profile missions and international operations in the United Kingdom, Japan, Estonia, Malaysia, and the Philippines.

A graduate of the Defense Information School’s Basic and Intermediate Photojournalism Courses—earning Distinguished Graduate honors—and the Intermediate Public Affairs Specialist Course, Jessi has published more than 2,000 photographs and 37 articles in support of the Air Force mission. Her award-winning work has earned recognition as the Pacific Air Forces Military Photographer of the Year, United States Air Forces in Europe Best Commentary, Best New Writer of the Year for USAFE, and Air Force Best New Writer of the Year.

Jessi has also led community engagement programs both in the United States and abroad, providing interactive tours and behind-the-scenes access to the Air Force mission. These efforts strengthened public understanding, promoted transparency, and built lasting relationships between the military and the communities it serves.

With expertise spanning photography, aerial imagery, media relations, storytelling, and public outreach, Jessi approaches her role with a creative eye and precise attention to detail. Her passion for visual storytelling and dedication to accuracy ensure the City of Valdosta’s initiatives, services, and events are shared in ways that truly connect with residents.
