Bureau of Support Services
The 18 members of the Support Services Bureau are responsible for various activities such as Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), Municipal Court Officers, Building Maintenance, Front Desk, Records Division, and Administrative Lieutenant.
Officers assigned to the Municipal Court are responsible for providing security and enforcing Georgia law at the Valdosta Municipal Court.
The Maintenance personnel employed by the department are responsible for everything from grounds and building cleanliness to heating, plumbing, and air systems and electrical.
Front Desk Clerks are the face of the department as they are usually the first person a citizen encounters at the department. Desk Clerks accept payments of fines and fees, provide information to citizens face to face and via telephone, prepare court dockets, assist officers working in the community, and perform a myriad of other tasks.
Records Clerks perform a myriad of tasks with court dockets, traffic citations, criminal and driver histories, and incident and accident reports.
The Administrative Lieutenant assists the Bureau Commander in managing the court officers, administrative staff, and maintenance staff and also serves as the Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC).
The bureau is overseen by a Commander who is responsible for administration of all bureau activities.
The Support Services Bureau supports the activities of the entire Police Department.
