City of Valdosta Announces Transition to Updated Residential Sanitation Billing System Effective July 1
The City of Valdosta will implement an updated residential sanitation billing system beginning Wednesday, July 1, as part of ongoing efforts to improve service efficiency and consistency for residents.
Under the updated system, only City-issued 96-gallon trash cans will be serviced. Each residential household will continue to receive one standard container. Residents who require additional capacity may request extra cans through the Public Works Department, with delivery expected within one week of ordering.
Utility bills will reflect itemized sanitation charges, including any additional cans requested. Beginning July 1, additional containers will be billed at a monthly rate.
To ensure efficient collection, residents are asked to place all household trash inside City-issued containers. Cans should not be overfilled, and lids should remain fully closed. Trash placed outside of containers or on the ground will not be collected.
“This transition allows us to provide a more streamlined and reliable sanitation service for our residents,” said Interim City Manager Al Crace. “By standardizing collection and clearly outlining service expectations, we are improving both operational efficiency and overall service delivery.”
The City encourages residents to begin preparing for this transition by ensuring they are using City-issued containers and submitting any requests for additional cans in advance of the July 1 implementation date.
For more information or to request additional containers, residents may contact the City of Valdosta Public Works Department at 229-259-3588.
