Join Valdosta and Lowndes County for the Spring Electronics Recycling Event on April 18

Got old gadgets collecting dust? It’s time for some spring cleaning. The City of Valdosta and Lowndes County Public Works departments invite residents to declutter and recycle responsibly at the Spring Electronics Recycling Event on Saturday, April 18, from 8 a.m. to noon at Valdosta Public Works, 1017 Myrtle Street.

This event provides a convenient opportunity for residents to dispose of outdated electronics safely while helping keep harmful materials out of local landfills.

Accepted Items

Residents may bring a variety of electronic items including cellphones, laptops, disk and floppy drives, modems, circuit boards, computer accessories, video machines, stereos, VCRs, CB radios, scanners, speakers, camcorders, walking pads, and cameras.

Items Not Accepted

Vacuum cleaners, refrigerators, washers, dryers, gas-powered equipment, non-electronic items, and materials that cannot be recycled electronically will not be accepted. CRTs will not be collected at this event.

Since the e-recycling events began in 2006, the program has helped divert more than 680,400 pounds, over 340 tons, of electronics from local landfills, making a significant environmental impact for the community.

Public Works Director Larry Ogden encourages residents to take advantage of the opportunity to recycle responsibly. “Events like this make it easy for residents to properly dispose of electronics that might otherwise end up in our landfills,” said Ogden. “When the community comes together for initiatives like this, it helps protect our environment and keeps Valdosta clean and sustainable for future generations.”

Residents are encouraged to gather their unused electronics and participate in this community recycling effort.
