City of Valdosta Appoints Darquita Williams as Finance Director

The City of Valdosta is pleased to announce the appointment of Darquita Williams as the City's Finance Director, recognizing her exceptional leadership, extensive financial expertise, and unwavering commitment to public service.

Bringing more than 15 years of combined financial experience, including more than a decade in municipal finance and more than five years in commercial banking, Williams offers a strong foundation in financial leadership, strategic planning, and public stewardship.

During her tenure as Interim Finance Director, Williams successfully led initiatives that enhanced financial operations, strengthened internal controls, increased transparency, and cultivated a positive, collaborative workplace culture. Her leadership has played an important role in ensuring the City's continued financial stability while fostering innovation and accountability within the Finance Department.

Williams holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Valdosta State University and an Associate of Business Administration from South Georgia College. She has also completed more than 200 hours of professional development through the Georgia Municipal Association, Georgia Government Finance Association, and Georgia Clerks Association, earning a Certificate of Recognition in recognition of her continued commitment to professional excellence.

She is an active member of the Georgia Government Finance Officers Association, the Government Finance Officers Association, and the Georgia Municipal Association. Additionally, she serves as Treasurer for Georgia Women in Public Finance, demonstrating her commitment to advancing the public finance profession throughout the state.

"Her knowledge of municipal finance, dedication to continuous improvement, and ability to build strong relationships have already strengthened our organization. I am confident she will continue to lead our Finance Department with professionalism, transparency, and fiscal responsibility."
