Stormwater Engineering Technician
Description
Overview
This position performs technical duties related to land disturbance activities.
- Performs plan reviews to ensure compliance with the city's Land Development Regulations.
- Reviews hydrological site analysis reports to ensure compliance with the Georgia Stormwater Management Manual.
- Performs site inspections on permitted sites to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Investigates complaints to determine violations and seek resolutions.
- Serve as the Local Issuing Authority (LIA) and performs enforcement actions for NPDES violations as required.
- Performs annual stormwater facility maintenance inspections on private property.
- Performs Certificate of Occupancy and stabilization inspections.
- Reviews Zoning Board of Appeals variance requests and provides recommendations.
- Attend development meetings.
- Document activities and prepare various reports.
- Performs related duties.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of the city's Land Development Regulations.
- Knowledge of state and local stormwater regulations.
- Knowledge of the Georgia Stormwater Management Manual.
- Knowledge of state and local NPDES regulations.
- Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
- Knowledge of state and local stormwater facility maintenance and inspection procedures.
- Skill in reading and interpreting construction plans and blueprints.
- Skill in performing construction inspections.
- Skill in the preparation of a variety of reports.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
- Must possess a valid Level II Certified Plan Reviewer certification card, issued by the Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission.
- Must possess a valid Level IB Certified Inspector certification card, issued by the Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission.
