Records Technician
Description
Overview
This position performs technical duties in the maintenance of department records.
- Answers telephone and greets citizens; provides information and assistance; prints requested reports; receives open records and other requests; accepts payments.
- Works the front desk to assist, or in absence of, the front desk clerk. May have to adjust schedule to assist in covering weekends, holidays, and nights.
- Enters citations traffic, city ordinance and animal control citations.
- Enters, clears, and reviews information in the GCIC and NCIC databases.
- Performs GCIC/NCIC validations.
- Performs probation warrant entry.
- Runs criminal and driver histories through GCIC/NCIC.
- Prepares a variety of regular and special reports to include monthly reports.
- Maintains, updates, scans, and files reports, records and other data.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Excellent customer service skills and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail in all tasks performed.
- Problem solving skills.
- Knowledge of City and departmental policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of computers and software applications (with training).
- Knowledge of GCIC and NCIC guidelines.
- Knowledge of open records laws.
- Skill in prioritizing and organizing work.
- Skills in use of computers, copier, facsimile machine, and scanners.
- Skill in oral and written communications.
