Valdosta Fire Department Receives Lifesaving Equipment Grant Amidst New Safety Challenges

Grant is part of more than $65 million given by Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation to public safety organizations across the U.S.

Valdosta, Ga. – First responders nationwide are often the first to experience the effects of a crisis. As community leaders work to protect their residents during the ongoing pandemic, additional safety protocols and equipment needs have created new challenges for first responders on the front lines.

Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation® continues to be a valuable resource to first responders throughout the country and has recently provided a $13,000 critical grant award to the Valdosta Fire Department. The funding will be applied toward the purchase of ballistic vests, which will be used to ensure greater life-saving capabilities for first responders in the community.

“This equipment is so important to the City of Valdosta as we have unfortunately seen increased risks to personnel in emergency response and code enforcement. With the help of the ballistic vests, our first responders will be able to better serve the community from an emergency response and prevention standpoint moving forward,” said Valdosta Fire Chief Brian Boutwell. “During these unique and difficult times, we’re so thankful to Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation and our local Firehouse Subs in Valdosta.”

For the past 16 years, donations have been the driving force behind Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation® supporting first responders and public safety organizations nationwide. During the most recent grant cycle, the Foundation awarded 127 grants to public safety organizations across the country. The 127 grants totaling nearly $3 million were given to organizations in need of critical lifesaving equipment and resources.
